Clark/IDCE graduate recognized for environmental achievement by Pennsylvania Environmental Council

Lauren Burkert Lazzari (CDP/M.A. ’05) of Johnstown Pennsylvania has been selected as a recipient of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council’s (PEC) 40 Under 40 Awards. Lazzari will be honored at PEC’s 40th Anniversary Celebration at the Civic Club of Harrisburg on September 22nd.  Nearly 100 environmental professionals and volunteers were nominated for this statewide honor. Lazzari was nominated as a small-city urban pioneer whose company, Investar Redevelopment, has acquired four buildings in downtown Johnstown, including an apartment building in which she lives with her family.  Investar Redevelopment performs redevelopment services focused on the re-use of distressed and underutilized properties.  She also serves as head of the Economic Restructuring Committee of Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership, which is working to make the downtown more vibrant.  She volunteers for Johnstown Area Heritage Association, leading downtown walking tours and tours of the Johnstown Discovery Network.  She and her husband helped start the first Young Professionals Group in Johnstown.  Her company is also developing a wood-pellet business near Jennerstown as a renewable-energy enterprise.  Lazzari is a 2002 graduate of University of Pittsburgh (B.A. Environmental Studies) and a 2005 graduate of Clark University (M.A. Community, Development & Planning).
